Music Collaboration Service Splice Enters Public Beta With New DNA Player

Splice, a Dropbox-like
service
built for musicians that has been in private/invite-only beta for over 10 months, is finally available to any and all musicians starting today. Started by GroupMe founder Steve Martocci in October 2013, the service has been building on the foundation of letting musicians collaborate more easily in the cloud, without having to worry about manually transferring files.

Today, Splice announced a new addition to the website, known as the DNA Player. This feature allows anyone to view a complete track structure with artist annotations and solo certain channels during playback within the browser, essentially bringing a “read-only” version of the project file to the masses. The DNA Player launches with an exclusive first-look at the project for “Henry Fong & J-Trick – Scream“, out September 22 on Musical Freedom.
Splice is clearly on the rise as the next big innovation for music producers. The startup has garnered $4.5 million in funding by parties such as Scooter Braun, Tiesto, and Steve Angello. With compatibility for Ableton, FL Studio, and Logic X, Splice is a must-have for electronic musicians.
