Redondo isn't your regular dance act. Making music for 15 years already, starting out as high school friends, the two Dutchmen Freek and Johan have explored deep and tech house music in every aspect, recently making waves with their singles 'Love Too Deep' (a collab with Amsterdam DJ Ferreck Dawn, released on Spinnin' Deep, summer 2014) and 'Every Single Piece' (an early 2015 deep house hit, together with Bolier and indie band She Keeps Bees). But, as this is their bio, why not have the guys introduce themselves?
"Thank you. We're an international artist duo who produce and play house music. Our signature sound has been described once as 'music that makes your girlfriend wanna dance', but of course as an artist you're always trying to take things to the next level - 'music that makes your entire family wanna dance'.
We were born in the 80's, so musically speaking, we're kids of the 90's - you may be able to hear some of that in our sounds. As we've been doing music together for many years, usually on the side, we've learnt to value musical substance over form and take most of the secondary issues of the music game with a grain of salt (for instance, whether you really need a quasi-3rd person bio).
Redondo singles like 'Love Too Deep', 'Tattoo Girl' and other works on labels like Spinnin' Records, Toolroom and Material have gotten us in an all new spotlight. Meanwhile we just keep on doing what we like, trying to contribute something by enjoying ourselves and enjoying others – that’s what makes it worth our while. Nothing more and nothing less.
We are originally from Amsterdam, Netherlands, and we run our label Witty Tunes out of Washington, DC together with our brothers Sideburn. Google us, and you'll find out how to connect to us through the social networks. See you soon somewhere around the world!"
2015 and beyond
Tnx Redondo for this introduction. Moving back to 3rd person now, taking a short look on what's happening these days. As mentioned before, early 2015 saw the guys deliver an instant deep house classic with 'Every Single Piece', working with Dutch producer Bolier and Washington indie band She Keeps Bees. It's promising to be a sweet summer anthem, already getting support from tastemaker jocks like Oliver Heldens, Pete Tong, Sam Feldt but also Tiësto and Dave Clarke (!).
Enough of the namedropping, you'll find out about 'Every Single Piece' soon enough. Making it kind of a special year for Redondo, creating music for 15 years already, going from deep and underground to familiar and worldwide known artists. This year sees them debut in the US and Asia as well as big festivals like Tomorrowland, Creamfields and Extrema Outdoor. And there's more to come, but we'll leave that to guys to tell about some other time...
