ABOUT

South African Boxing Federation (SABOF) is an organisation that was launched on 6 August 2014 in Ga-rankuwa, Tshwane, South Africa.  It was formed by former boxers who felt that boxing in South Africa was dead.  We are represented in all provinces.

Since 1994 we have seen decline in the standard of amateur and professional boxing.   For the more than twenty years South Africa has failed to produce an Olympic Gold Champion in boxing.  We cannot sit idly by and allow the situation to continue unabated. That is why we took it upon ourselves to change the state of boxing in the country of our birth.

We have former boxers and trainers who are dedicated to assist in the development of boxing at all levels.  Children and women need to be encouraged to take boxing as a sport as well as a form of self-defence.  The rural areas and the townships have been excluded in the development of boxing.  in Soweto which has millions of residence there are only four rings. In Pretora one club has four rings.  SABOF will change that.

Former world champions like Lehlohonolo "The Hans of Stone" Ledwaba, Jan Bergman, Sugarboy Malinga, Welcome "The Hawk" Ncita, Vuyani "The Beast" Bungu, November Ntshingila, Isaac Hlatshwayo, and others are involved in the revival and development of our boxing.
